Can there be mathematical truths that escape proof?

In mathematics,  there  are sometimes mathematical truths that are beyond proof. Fermat’s Last theorem was true, even though it took Andrew Wiles many years to prove it.  Here the mathematician Andrew Wiles describes in emotional terms the, “most important point in my working life” when he proved Fermat’s last theorem.
